Custom & Import Tax

Custom & Import Tax

Thank you for shopping with pescomfy! For our international customers, here is important information regarding customs, duties, and taxes.

1. Who is responsible for paying duties and taxes?

The recipient of the package is considered the "importer of record" and is responsible for all import duties, taxes, and any other customs-related fees.

Please be aware that pescomfy does not calculate or collect these fees at checkout. These charges are determined by the customs authority in the destination country and are payable when the package is delivered.

2. How are customs duties and taxes calculated?

The amount you may need to pay for duties and taxes varies significantly from country to country. The final cost depends on several factors, including:

  • The customs laws and tax rates of your country.

  • The value and type of the items in your order.

  • The shipping method you select (e.g., Standard Mail vs. Express Service).

Shipping Method Considerations:

  • Standard Shipping: To facilitate a smooth customs process for our customers, packages sent via standard mail are often declared at a conservative value. While this practice may reduce the likelihood of high import fees in many countries, the final assessment is at the discretion of your country's customs officials and is not a guarantee.

  • Express Services (DHL, UPS, etc.): Shipments via express carriers typically undergo a more formal clearance process. The declared value will align with the item's value, which may result in duties and taxes being charged.

For the most accurate estimate, we recommend contacting your local customs office.

3. Can I request a specific declared value on the invoice?

Yes. If you have a specific requirement for the declared value on the commercial invoice, please email us at support@pescomfy.com immediately after placing your order. Be sure to include your order number and the value you wish to have declared.

If we do not receive specific instructions, our standard procedure is to declare a value based on the package's weight and volume, typically ranging from $20 to $300 USD.

4. What if my package is held by customs?

If your package encounters a customs clearance issue, please contact us right away. We are here to help and will support you by:

  • Providing you with a copy of the commercial invoice and any necessary shipping documents.

  • Contacting our shipping carrier on your behalf to help resolve the situation.

Please note that as the importer, you are ultimately responsible for communicating with your local customs office to provide any information they require to release your package.
